VISION

Identify, strengthen and generate a professional community within Portuguese Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that is committed to system-wide internationalization efforts that are aligned with similar efforts being made within US HEIs, providing a platform for easier collaboration between both systems.

MAIN

OBJECTIVES

To provide

training for staff and administrators from Portuguese HEIs regarding the US Higher Education system and its internationalization processes.

To help

situate Portugal’s internationalization efforts within its European context, taking inspiration and best practices from other European cases.

To provide

resources and structures of support to increase the number and quality of projects for internationalization between Portuguese HEIs and counterparts in the US.

To increase

To gather

and generate a sense of community of Higher Education professionals who will develop and advocate for internationalization between Portugal and the USA.

To provide

an advocacy platform for Portuguese HEIs and their interests regarding internationalization to the USA.

THESE ARE

OUR GOALS

Improve the position of Portugal as a destination for U.S. study abroad, such that Portugal achieves a Top 10 position within Europe.

Increase the number of US students choosing Portugal for degree-seeking programs (undergraduate and graduate);

Increase the level of interaction and dialogue between Portuguese and US HEIs via the development of reciprocal mobility & exchange agreements, double and joint-degree programs, etc.;

Incentivize the production and dissemination of research that supports the working group’s efforts;

To provide feedback and inputs to governmental authorities in their development of a national strategy for internationalization of higher education towards the US.
